At the Global Sustainable Development Foundation, we support impactful projects across Latin America and the Caribbean that aim to provide access to safe drinking water and efficient sanitation systems. Our goal is to contribute meaningfully to Sustainable Development Goal 6: Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

Our funding focuses on a wide range of relevant subsectors, including:

Water

We support the development of infrastructure such as:

  • Water treatment plants

  • Water intakes and reservoirs

  • Pumping stations

  • Large-scale transmission and distribution networks

Sanitation Systems

We fund projects involving:

  • Sewerage systems, including central sewers and wastewater pumping stations

  • Domestic and industrial wastewater treatment plants

​Water Sector Policy & Governance

We invest in strengthening public water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) policy through:

  • Legislative and regulatory development

  • Institutional capacity building

  • Integrated water resource management support

Basic Drinking Water Access

This includes rural systems using:

  • Manual pumps

  • Spring intakes

  • Gravity-fed systems

  • Rainwater and fog collection

  • Storage tanks

Small-scale distribution networks with shared connections
Urban areas may also be supported through neighbourhood pump systems and shared network infrastructure

Basic Sanitation Services

We encourage investment in:

  • Latrines, septic tanks, and alternative sanitation solutions

  • Community-driven and individual initiatives to build sustainable and hygienic facilities

Education & Training in Water and Sanitation

We also finance:

  • Capacity development for water professionals and service providers

  • Technical and vocational training to support sector sustainability

River Basin Development

Our support extends to:

  • Integrated river basin infrastructure

  • Watercourse regulation

  • Dam and reservoir constructio

  • Institutional activities for basin management

Water Resource Protection & Data Collection

We back efforts to:

  • Collect and use quantitative and qualitative water resource data

  • Promote knowledge sharing

  • Conserve and rehabilitate rivers, lakes, groundwater, and coastal waters

  • Prevent water pollution through sustainable practices
