SECTOR: WASTE MANAGEMENT

Cartón Reciclado

Our foundation supports projects that strengthen municipal and industrial waste management systems, contributing to several Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and SDG 15 (Life on Land).

We prioritise initiatives that improve the collection, treatment, and disposal of waste, including:

Hazardous and Toxic Waste Management

We support projects that ensure the safe collection, treatment, and disposal of hazardous and toxic waste — including industrial chemicals, medical waste, and electronic waste. These initiatives aim to prevent environmental contamination, protect local ecosystems, and reduce risks to human health, particularly in vulnerable communities.

Landfill Management and Rehabilitation

We invest in the modernisation, closure, and rehabilitation of unsanitary landfills. This includes the implementation of controlled landfill systems, leachate and gas management technologies, and the recovery of degraded land to reduce pollution, prevent health risks, and enable future sustainable use of the sites.

Composting and Waste Reuse Strategies

Our foundation promotes organic waste composting and the reuse of recyclable materials as part of a circular economy approach. These initiatives contribute to reduced landfill dependency, create green jobs, and encourage community participation in waste segregation, composting, and resource recovery.
